Cancer Awareness Project is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization established in June of 2008. Founder, Emmit J. Martin, inspired by his own successful bone marrow donation, established CAP to promote Cancer awareness on a nationwide scale by establishing June 16th (6-16) of each year as Cancer Awareness Day. Currently, this non-profit organization is comprised of carefully selected board members from other national cancer organizations, respected hospitals, popular artists and cancer research supporters nationwide. We are advocates of nationwide organizations like the National Marrow Donor Program, Prostate Cancer Foundation, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Gilda's Club, the Colon Cancer Foundation and individual supporters as well. By creating strong support for CAP right here in Tennessee, we unite the state with the intention eventually merging all efforts and resources to nationwide cancer awareness, prevention, education and life saving donations. Beginning with our home town of Nashville, Tennessee, the National Cancer Awareness Day Foundation will establish local CAP chapters and events. Once established, the local chapters will be duplicated in other cities nationwide. The cure rests in all of our hands, not just scientists and doctors but everyday people have the power to embrace and demand the cure of cancer through preventative educational awareness and life saving donations. Based on a study by the Tennessee Department of Health's Comprehensive Cancer Control Coalition, nearly 65% of new cancer cases and 33% of cancer deaths could be prevented by lifestyle changes and early cancer screenings. Click here to download the Tennessee Cancer Control Palm 2009-2012 Plan. Thank you for the support of National Cancer Awareness Day, tell a friend and together we can all save lives.
